Christmas Melon (ITAGIRI)

Itagiri; Scientifically known as Laganaira breviflorus. It is basically an anti viral plant. Known to cure many viral diseases such as Newcastle disease, Mareks and fowl pox. Generally we use Itagiri to ward off viral diseases at home such as chicken pox, measles etc Note that the fruit of Lagenaria breviflora is used by native doctors in Nigeria as abortifacient among many other things. This means that it can be used to induce an abortion. As a result, it is not advisable to use for Pullets, breeders above 14weeks of age, also it is not advisable for laying hen.
The molasses in the Itagiri does two jobs, one as a preservative and two as a tonic.
